Botox
Botox can provide a subtle, refreshed appearance by temporarily reducing the muscle activity that contributes to certain facial lines and wrinkles.
At Marlton Family Medicine, Ritu Aggarwal, MD provides personalized Botox consultations and treatments with a medical approach focused on your facial anatomy, treatment goals, and individual needs.
Botulinum toxin products are prescription injectable medications. FDA-approved cosmetic uses include temporary improvement of specific facial lines, depending on the individual product and indication.
A Personalized, Physician-Guided Approach
The goal of cosmetic treatment should be to complement your natural appearance—not create a one-size-fits-all result.
Before treatment, Dr. Aggarwal will discuss the areas that concern you, review your medical history, evaluate facial movement and anatomy, and determine whether Botox is appropriate for your goals.
Your treatment plan is tailored to you.
Botox Q & A
Frequently asked questions about Botox
What is Botox?
Botox Cosmetic contains onabotulinumtoxinA, a botulinum toxin medication administered by injection.
It works by temporarily reducing activity in selected muscles. For cosmetic treatment, this can soften the appearance of certain expression-related facial lines.
What areas can Botox treat?
FDA-approved botulinum toxin products have cosmetic indications for specific types of facial lines. Depending on the product, these may include areas such as:
- Frown lines between the eyebrows
- Crow's feet around the eyes
- Forehead lines
Your physician will determine whether treatment is appropriate for the area you would like to address.
What happens during a Botox appointment?
Your appointment begins with a consultation to discuss your concerns and desired outcome.
Dr. Aggarwal evaluates facial anatomy and muscle movement before determining the appropriate treatment areas. Small amounts of the medication are then administered into selected muscles using a fine needle.
Are Botox results permanent?
No. Cosmetic botulinum toxin treatment produces temporary results. Muscle activity gradually returns over time, and facial lines may become more noticeable again.
Your physician can discuss an appropriate treatment schedule based on your response and goals.
